Torrential rains in Brazil, especially in northern parts of Rio de Janeiro, have led to severe flooding, turning avenues into rivers and causing at least 11 deaths. The storm resulted in landslides, drownings, and electrocutions. Emergency services, including firefighters, are actively engaged in rescue operations. Mayor Eduardo Paes has declared the situation an “emergency,” advising people to stay at home to ensure their safety and to facilitate ongoing rescue and recovery efforts. The water levels have reached the roofs of cars on some sections of Avenida de Brasil, a major city thoroughfare.
