Climatic Changes And Increase Of Dengue
A film Festival was organized by the Climatic Changes Division of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, at the Mahaweli Center on the 4th of June 2009.
‘Unite to combat climate change’ was the theme of the Environment Day 2009. Speaking at the event Dr. W. L. Sumathipala stated the consequences of climatic changes; Minister for Environment and Natural resources Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka stated that the rate of increase of Dengue is a result of climatic changes. Further stated those 90 deaths have occurred during this year including 22 school children and 33 housewives. Reproduction of Alien Invasive species has also gone increased.
