YASA Cyclone Strikes Fiji
Tropical Cyclone Yasa struck the low-lying Pacific island nation of Fiji on Thursday evening local time, as one of the strongest storms to hit there. With maximum sustained winds of between 150 and 160 mph, the storm made landfall on Vanua Levu, home to about 140,000, bringing potentially devastating winds, flooding rains and storm surge flooding.According to the Fiji Meteorological Agency, Yasa struck with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph, making it a strong Category 4 storm, down slightly from its peak intensity as a Category 5.
