Government Declared Nedungemuwe Raja As A National Heritage

Government today declared Nedungemuwe Raja as a national heritage. This decision was announced today. Nedungemuwe Raja was the ceremonial tusker for the casket of the temple of the tooth for 13 occasions during 2005-2021.
The tusker died on March 7, 2022. Considering the contribution rendered by ‘Nedungamuwe Raja’, the Prime Minister as the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs submitted a proposal in this regard to declare it as a national heritage.
