Sri Lanka Nature Forum stated
that the Sinharaja Rain forest is in danger
due to illegal timber poaching inside the forest.
According to Nature Forum tea cultivation which has been continuing around the rain forest, also has caused destruction further.
Sinharaja forest reserve was named as a World Heritage Site in 1998 by the UNESCO.
