Fears Of Droughts In Central Hills
Water levels of many reservoirs in central province have gone down due to the presence of the dry weather in the region.
According to reports it has come to a point that generating hydro power of two power plants has been stopped due to the prevailing situation. Loss of forest cover by forest fires in the region was also another issue for the current prevailing situation. It is also noted that severe issues has been faced by farmers in the area. Dry Weather has affected the harvest of crop production in the region as well the tea production which contributes to the foreign economy in Sri-Lanka.
