Warnings Issued For Landslide And Floods Due To Heavy Rain

According to reports land slide warnings issued by NBRO to Sabaragamuwa provinc and Southern province.

Landslides was issued for Rathnapura, Elapatha, Pelmadulla, Kuruwita, Ehaliyagoda, Kiriella, Imbulpe, Ayagama and Kahawatta divisional Secretariats in Rathnapura district while Bulathkohupitiya and Dehiowita areas in Kegalle District. Warnings were issued for Galle Baddegama, Yakkalamulla and Nagoda divisional secretariat divisions in Galle Districts and Kaluthara district for Bulathsinhala, Agalawatta, Walallawita and baduraliya. Torrential rains expected to continue within next 24 hours. All schools in the Sabaragamuwa province will be closed today due to the prevailing adverse weather and floods situation. Many areas in the country have been affected by floods due to heavy rainfall. The Disaster Management Center (DMC) said people of Kelani-Ganga related Divisional Secretariat areas in the Kolonnawa, Biyagama, Kelaniya, Kaduwela, Dompe, Hanwella, Padukka and Avissawella are advised to take adequate measures to face a major flood situation. Three deaths been reported due to the prevailing weather situation in Sri Lanka.
