Over 1 Million Affected From Droughts In Sri Lanka
Disaster Management Center states more than one million people from 15 districts are affected due to severe drought around the country. Mostly, people in Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Puttalam, and Vavuniya districts are severely affected and in greater difficulty due to the drought.The DMC states that 40 million rupees handed over for relief activities for victims affected from droughts and 200 water bowsers have been used to distribute drinking water to the affected public. Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa expressed that a special discussion will be held tomorrow with the relevant officials on providing relief to the people.
