Yugadanavi meets 300MW shortfall caused by Norochcholai breakdown 350MW Sobadhanavi LNG Plant will commence operation next year

The Yugadanavi Power Plant at Kerawalapitiya,  is meeting the shortfall of 300MW electricity caused by the breakdown of the Norochcholai Power Plant Unit 3.

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday said so when he visited the site of the 350MW Sobadhanavi LNG Plant under construction also at Kerawalapitiya. The Plant is operated by LTL.

He said that the 350MW produced by it would meet part of the growing electricity demand next year.

The Minister said that 300MW Yugadanavi Power Plant recommenced operations after they took immediate measures to supply furnace oil.

Wijesekera also said that Ceylon Petroleum Corporation would carry out the task of providing diesel, Naphtha and Furnace Oil to the Ceylon Electricity Board maintained power plants countrywide.
